In a certain moment of my artistic adventure, I felt the need to get closer to subjects to paint, neglecting the big picture to devote myself instead to detail. What interests me describe in this series of works is the perception of objects rather than the objects themselves; intangible details, colors unnoticeable if not zooming to the maximum the goal. It is, ultimately, of a backward procedure to achieve an abstract view of nature. Hence it arose the series of paintings entitled “Secret Garden”, the secret garden.
In my path, feeling the need to emphasize the matter of what I’m painting, I decided to use, contrary to my usual, different expressive mediums such as oil, wood, flax, ceramics that allow me to get that grain, the roughness in the surface can describe this my little inner world.
This research, this series of works marked an important point in my painting experience because it allowed me to stop and look inside myself to redefine the objectives and topics of my artistic adventure. Move from the general to the particular involved a completely different approach to my painting, abandoning the more figurative aspect in favor of a more gestural, expressionistic, and often calligraphy. Crossing the My Secret Garden continues my research of shapes, colors and textures. It ‘a path, above all interior, to discover myself and of my memories that manifest as fragments of things: flowers, leaves, twigs, branches, clear skies or stormy, meadows and deep woods. An enchanted garden where access in times of need when, tired of the noise of everyday life, you feel the need to alienate and fly higher.
Nato a San Gimignano ha studiato arte e architettura a Firenze e quindi ha iniziato a lavorare come disegnatore nel 1980. Attraverso i suoi lavori rappresenta la vita che ci circonda, i suoi soggetti preferiti sono le figure umane e la natura. La sua ricerca è rivolta soprattutto a scoprire le relazioni tra forme, colori e textures. Le figure fissate in pose e atteggiamenti che ne individuano lo stato d’animo, suggeriscono la loro personalità attraverso un attento studio della composizione e del design della tavola; la natura nella sua varietà di alberi, fiori, cespugli, foglie è esplorata da vicino attraverso un processo di astrazione, come con un obiettivo per macro fotografia, per dare maggiore personalità alle composizioni.
Le idee
Ogni dipinto ha una sua storia e una sua personale gestazione. Tutto può contribuire alla scintilla iniziale, una foto, una frase, una musica. Prima di iniziare passa molto tempo pensando al design generale della nuova tavola, agli schemi di colori da utilizzare, a cosa mettere in evidenza e cosa lasciare in secondo piano. Generalmente prende molti appunti e schizzi, prova dei colori, ombreggiature, scompone il soggetto in porzioni che poi ricompone diversamente, schematizza varie soluzioni compositive. Tutto questo processo può durare giorni oppure settimane però quando è il momento di dipingere il lavoro viene giù filato senza ripensamenti.
I materiali
Opere su carta. Utilizza gli acquarelli su carta fatta a mano con stracci di cotone, è una carta bellissima, importata dall’India, pesante e rugosa, con una sua forte personalità che richiede molta attenzione ed esperienza per padroneggiarla.
Opere su tela. Olii e acrilici permettono di lavorare in maniera analoga agli acquarelli su superfici diverse dalla carta e garantiscono grande libertà espressiva.
